John Cooney Announces Campaign for Hennepin County Commissioner
MINNETONKA – John Cooney, a Minnetonka resident and long-time aide to US Representative Jim Ramstad, as well as Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek, announced today he is running for the Hennepin County Board in District 6.
“I have the experience, vision and energy to win this crucial election for this important position” said Cooney.
“There are enormous, important decisions to be made about our infrastructure, but, we must also control government spending in an era of record home foreclosures and mounting economic challenges” said Cooney. “My broad experience gives me the decision-making tools to tackle the challenges we currently face and identify solutions to the issues we will need to confront in the future.”
John Cooney served as Campaign Manager and Political Director for U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad during the 2002, 2004 and 2006 campaigns for the 3rd Congressional District. After working as Sheriff Stanek’s Chief of Staff, Cooney founded a printing business which specializes in the printing needs of small to mid-size businesses as well as non-profit organizations. Cooney graduated from Wayzata Senior High School and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a BA in Political Science.
“I have lived here all my life and I want to serve my community” said Cooney, who has a long record of public service including volunteerism at Sharing and Caring Hands, the Boy Scouts of America and on the Plymouth Planning Commission.
